How deep do you grind?

Deep enough to plant grass or a new tree over it — normally 8 to 12 inches under the surface. Deeper if you're pouring concrete on top.

Can you grind a stump you didn't cut?

Yes. Old stumps are routine, though roots hidden under the limestone here can add time.
